Findings

This research evaluates the ability of U.S. retail investors to invest in publicly listed climate solution companies based in low- and middle-income countries. Analyzing nearly 1,000 companies against the full universe of U.S.-traded ETFs and mutual funds, the study finds that the vast majority of climate solution companies in the Global South are inaccessible to retail investors. These findings point to structural constraints in index construction, fund design, and market access that limit capital flows to climate solutions in the regions that need them most.
